- Those Who Had Their Say: 3
Have you ever asked yourself what differentiates those who are successful from John Q. Middle-Class? How do the rich become rich? From personal experience, 99% of the successful people in business that I have either met or heard of seem to carry extremely similar characteristics. Is there some kind of special club going on that you haven’t been invited to? Well, yes, in a certain sense.
Believe in Yourself
Excuse me, but I must now remind you of two powerful phrases that describe this very simple concept.
- What you believe, you can achieve!
- “Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you’re right.” -Henry Ford
Unless you have been living under a rock for your entire life, you have heard these two lines. They are so simple, yet so moving. You are the only person in your life that can make choices for you. If you feel as if you are stuck in the middle class and you won’t be able to rise to upper class, chances are that you will be stuck in the middle class.
The success club is happy to invite new members. There is no limit to how many people or organizations can join, in fact the club believes that if you are more successful, they will in turn benefit from you. Capital is always looking to generate more capital.
Associations
You are the company you keep. Two great blog posts on this concept can be found at Nate’s and Josh’s blogs. In the post I made about perseverance, I mentioned that you want to avoid nay-sayers if you can. If you find the people in your life are convinced that they know what is best for you, and it doesn’t align with becoming a success in business, detach. The opposite is true in this case. You must network and reach out to people that you feel can benefit your cause. As much as you want to avoid people that bring you down, you want to attract people that lift you up. It makes it much easier to succeed when you have support.
Now that you understand that you must reach out to positive people and disassociate yourself from negative people, we can talk about everyday influences. Are you reading? Do you exercise? Do you feel healthy? Are you confident that the things you do day-to-day are helping you achieve success? Do you take advantage of opportunities that benefit you? Are you planning for the future? If you can answer yes to all of these questions, you are one step closer to achieving your goals. Again, I recommend you go over to the blogs I mentioned above to find out more specific information regarding this concept.
Ready to Learn
You must accept that other people can be more intelligent and insightful than you. Do not allow your ego to get in the way of taking excellent advice. Find how you learn most effectively (listening, reading, visually), and then begin to learn about your field. There is an unlimited amount of literature, media, and ways to directly communicate with people. Take advantage of the people that you have chosen to associate with! However you go about it, you must continue to learn throughout your successful career.
Tomorrow I will continue the mindset for Business Success. The concepts in bold below are what we will cover. Thanks for reading!

Nice Post! You’ve got one of the two of my favorite quotes listed. I’m a firm believer in the “whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right” theory. We really are capable of anything we put our mind to (as corny as that sounds). My other favorite quote is “The harder you work, the luckier you get.”
